St. Jude week begins Monday
Student Council and Key Club will be co-hosting St. Jude Week from Feb. 1 to Feb. 5. All profits made will go directly to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
All week there will be jars with teacher’s faces on them where students and staff are able to donate change. “At the boy’s basketball game on Friday the teacher with the most change in their jar will get pied in the face,” student council member and organizer of St. Jude Week Hailey Newkirk said.
There will be two bake sales throughout the week on Tuesday and Thursday with the proceeds going directly to the cause.
On Wednesday evening at 6 there will be a ping-pong tournament in which students can participate at the cost of $5 per person. The winner of the tournament will receive a prize such as a “Ping Pong Champ” T-shirt or a golden paddle. Applications for the tournament are available outside of Laura Resyz’s room in 173A and are due Friday.
“Fast 25″ forms are available the Wednesday before St. Jude Week begins. These forms are filled out by students in order to send donation letters to 25 different people they know. On Feb. 5 students who fill out the forms get out of class at 2 p.m. to attend the “letter signing party.” “There will even be food and treats for those at the party,” Newkirk said.
